Dartboard Golf Rules | Print |
Dartboard golf is best played as a conventional strokeplay game of golf. i.e. the player with the lowest score is the winner.

BEFORE YOU START:

Download and print a Barsportz 'Scorepad' or, on the scoreboard of your dartboard cabinet, list the numbers of the holes(1 – 18) down the left side. Beside each hole, nominate its Par value (par 3, 4 or 5). This can be random or a suggested sequence is:

Hole 1 – Par 4     Hole 7 – Par 4        Hole 13 – Par 3

Hole 2 – Par 3     Hole 8 – Par 4        Hole 14 – Par 4

Hole 3 – Par 3     Hole 9 – Par 5        Hole 15 – Par 3

Hole 4 – Par 4     Hole 10 – Par 4      Hole 16 – Par 4

Hole 5 – Par 4     Hole 11 – Par 4      Hole 17 – Par 5

Hole 6 – Par 5     Hole 12 – Par 5      Hole 18 – Par 4

(The aggregate value of this sequence is Par 72)

List all the players names across the top of the scoresheet and record their score for each hole beside the applicable hole and under their name. Scores can be recorded as the number of strokes according to which Part of the hole they have hit;

e.g. Hole 5 – Par 4

Peter 5

Mary 3

Sam 4

(Peter has bogeyed the hole, Mary has scored a birdie and Sam has Parred the hole)

The final score is determined as the aggregate of all eighteen holes with the lowest total being the winner,or as under, even or over Par;

e.g. Hole 5 – Par 4

Peter  +1

Mary  -1

Sam   0

(Peter is one over Par, Mary is one under and Sam is even Par)

If all three players scored a birdie on the next hole their score would change as follows; Peter would move to 0 or even, Mary to –2 and Sam to -1. Consequently a bogey would see their scores move up one to +2, 0 or even, and +1.

The player with the highest under Par number or lowest over Par number is the winner.

PLAY:

Nominate a player to throw first.

Each player may hold three darts and the first player aims at hole 1 and all players are to complete hole 1 before continuing to hole 2.

In Dartboard Golf, a player can score a Par (even), Birdie (one under), Eagle (two under or hole-in-one on a hole with a Par 3 value), Albatross (three under), Bogey (one over) and Double Bogey (two over).

A dart landing in the largest section within each hole (dark green) scores a Par. A dart landing in the smaller, lighter green section contained within the hole scores a birdie. A dart landing in the light green circle attached to the hole but slightly adjacent will score an Eagle.

As soon as a dart lands in any of these three areas, whether it be the first, second or third throw, that is the score registered for that hole and no further throws are required. If all three darts fail to land in these areas then the player will score a bogey.

On a hole with a Par 5 value, a player may nominate to shoot for an Albatross before throwing his/her first dart for that hole. An albatross is achieved by landing a dart in the bullseye. However, once the player states their intention, they must throw all three darts at the bullseye (if throws one and two do not score). If all three darts miss the bullseye then the player scores a Double Bogey even if one of the darts lands in the hole being played. (e.g. Par 5 holes 6,9,12 or 17 in the sequence above)

If all three darts fail to hit the dartboard, then a Double Bogey is also scored.
